Nov. Update:
Well, it is almost surgery time!!! Thank you so much to all who have donated to help this gorgeous little creature. Good news, recent Vet visit confirmed she in no longer anemic, a plus! And that she is stronger and has gained weight. On Sunday 11/30, last minute measurements and a fitting will take place for the chest plate she will have attached in order to help the rib cage open. I am, of course, anxious as I want this little girl to have a full, long, happy life! Surgery is scheduled for Monday, December 1st. The after care will include changing dressing, ensuring she stays healthy and pain free during her recovery. Please send little Jelly all your positive thoughts and wishes for a perfect outcome and a speedy recovery. I again, thank everyone who has donated to this cause, and if anyone is willing to help with the expense of after care, I would be very appreciative!
UPDATE: The consult went very well today, it was certainly more positive news. Health wise, she is doing great, she is gaining and has increased muscle mass where she lacked prior. Vet is consulting with a board certified surgeon and will be updating me soon. The surgery should ideally be done within the next three weeks while her tiny bones are still pliable. If you could share this with any and all you know, Jelly and I would greatly appreciate it. And a heartfelt thank you to all who have donated so far
Update: Jelly has a consult appointment in Tuesday @ Noon, so hopefully, more information will be forthcoming.
Hi, I'm Penny Kolls, and I’m reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea for support for Kearney Rescue Cats. But this request is for one individual kitten who has fought so hard to live and now faces death unless a life saving operation can be performed.
Her name is Jelly, and she came into foster care at a mere 3 days old with two siblings brothers. One brother, Butter, passed the next day. Brother Jam held on incredibly, however some problem with his lymphatic system took his life. Through all this Jelly continued to thrive. This amazing little girl was growing slowly, at 7 weeks, she didn't even weigh 1/2 a pound.
But she was still thriving. Today we have a diagnosis of Pectus Evacuatim, which means her rib cage is pressing against her lungs and heart. Now at 13 weeks, one of her lungs have collapsed, making room for her heart and other lung. All aspects of her other lung are good as are her stats from blood work, however too much more growth there won't be room. There is a surgery that can help her, where they take a bridge on the outside of her little chest, stitching it into her existing rib cage to force it open, but it needs to be done soon before her bones begin to harden
Would you please consider a donation to help make this miracle happen for this beautiful little girl? She has been through so much just to make it this far!!!
Jelly and would be ever so grateful for your generosity!
