My name is Christopher Tetrault, and I had the privilege of calling Joshua “Josh” Brown my best friend for more than three decades.
From the day we met as kids, through our years serving in the military, and into our adult lives, Josh was a constant — the kind of friend you could count on no matter what. He was a man of deep integrity, unmatched loyalty, and a heart that seemed too big for one person to carry.
Josh lived a life dedicated to service. He began his journey by earning the rank of Eagle Scout, a reflection of his commitment and work ethic from a young age. In 2000, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving for eight years, including active duty from 2005 to 2007 with deployments to Bosnia and Iraq. Over his military career, he was awarded 10 medals — a testament to his dedication and courage.
After his military service, Josh continued protecting and serving others as a law enforcement officer for over a decade, working at the Wyoming and Forest Lake Police Departments. He served as a patrol officer, SWAT operator and sniper, and a member of the drug task force, recognized for his skill, discipline, and leadership. He also served on the Washington County Weapons & Tactics team, where his professionalism and precision were unmatched.
Josh was proud of his heritage as a member of the Rainy River First Nation (Ojibwe), and he lived with a sense of honor and respect for his roots. Outside of work, he had a passion for traveling, weight training — even competing in his first bodybuilding competition — and perfecting his marksmanship at the shooting range.
But above all, Josh was a devoted husband and father. His wife, Jennifer, was the love of his life, and together they built a home filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. Josh was a proud father to Calian, Elora, Ethan (Miranda), and Ryan (Bella), and grandfather to Noah. Whether it was taking Calian to martial arts lessons, supporting Elora’s gymnastics dreams, or bonding with Ethan and Ryan over shared military service and marksmanship, Josh found his greatest joy in the simple, meaningful moments with his children.
On August 11, 2025, Josh passed away unexpectedly from an unknown medical event at just 41 years old. His loss leaves a void that can never be filled — in his family, his community, and among the countless friends whose lives he touched.
This fundraiser is to help support Jennifer and the children during this heartbreaking time. Funds will go toward funeral expenses, daily living costs, and creating long-term stability for the kids. While we can never replace what has been lost, we can stand together to ensure Josh’s family has the support they need — just as he would have done for any of us.
If you knew Josh, you know he loved big, served with purpose, and gave his whole heart to everyone around him. Your donation — no matter the amount — will make a difference, and your kindness will carry forward the legacy of a man who spent his life protecting, serving, and loving others.
