As an immigrant business owner, a DREAMER on DACA, I am the proud daughter of immigrant parents. It is my highest priority and deepest concern to keep my employees, my family, and myself safe.
I didn’t just start a Cajun seafood lunch truck to make money; I built it to create a better future for myself and my loved ones. Sharing flavorful Cajun cuisine with my community is a way to connect, serve, and represent myself proudly.
My journey began with a dream: to have something of my own. As a woman and an immigrant, I have faced unique barriers, but instead of letting them stop me, they became fuel for my fire. Starting my Cajun seafood truck wasn’t just about launching a business—it was about breaking cycles, creating opportunity, and proving that with heart and hustle, anything is possible.
Running my business hasn’t been easy. Even after the fires, we had to close for 3 months. I’ve had to fight for visibility in a male-dominated space and navigate systems that aren’t always welcoming to immigrants. Balancing the demands of entrepreneurship with my responsibilities to my family adds another layer of pressure. Access to resources, funding, and support networks can be limited—but I continue to rise.
Just because it’s not your struggle, it doesn’t mean it’s not real.
I am proud to be Mexican. I’d choose this EVERY TIME & in EVERY LIFETIME. Be the voice for those of us that can’t.
We are hardworking people—mothers, fathers, and neighbors—who have been part of our community for years. With no safety net, we need your support now more than ever.
I've created a GoFundMe to help provide support for our families and employees during these times. 100% of donations will go toward rent, groceries, and emergency expenses.
Please consider donating or sharing this with your network. Every bit helps.
Together, we can show love, dignity, and solidarity when it matters most. ✊❤️
