Death came knocking for my daddy.

For weeks, my dad, Greg Guffey, had been having chest pain and strange symptoms, but like the stubborn man he is, he kept brushing it off as reflux. Saturday, the pain became too much to ignore.

He went to Union General ER—then he was life-flighted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. That’s when we found out he was having a “widow maker” heart attack—caused by a 100% blockage in his main artery that supplies blood to most of the heart.

This is the kind of heart attack that most people don’t survive.

But by the grace of God, my dad, is still with us.

Doctors placed stents to restore blood flow, and now he’s in the hospital recovering. He has a long road ahead—cardiac rehab three times a week, follow-up care, and multiple medications. And he’s unfortunately doing all of this without health insurance.

If you know my daddy, you know this isn’t going to be easy. He’s a hard-working man who doesn’t like to sit still. Being forced to slow down, rest, and ask for help is not in his nature—but it’s what he has to do right now.

He also helps provide for my stepmom (who works just as hard) and my niece and nephew, who count on him every day.

He’ll likely be out of work for several weeks, maybe longer, depending on how his recovery goes. Not having a paycheck right now makes everything harder, especially while trying to cover prescriptions, gas for weekly appointments, and basic living expenses.

All funds raised will go toward my dad’s medical expenses, medication, cardiac rehab, and helping cover essential needs while he is out of work recovering.
