Hi, my name is Kennedy Lukey and I am fundraising for my amazing mom, Grace Korthuis.

Last October, my mom was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and has since undergone several rounds of chemotherapy to treat the disease, with surgery scheduled and possible radiation to follow. The chemo treatments have made her incredibly sick and unable to work, and she is now switching from short-term to long-term leave.

For those of you who know my mom, you know that she embodies the meaning of her name, Grace. She has spent the last 30+ years serving vulnerable, multi-barriered youth and their families through her work, and has truly dedicated her life to serving others. Many of you may not know that my dad, Wade Lukey, lost his battle to cancer in 1998, leaving my mom to be an incredible single parent – making this an even more difficult time for my mom, myself, and our extended family.

Throughout my mom's treatment, and throughout life, she has maintained a positive mindset and grateful heart. I have created this fundraiser in an effort to allow myself and others to attempt to return all of the love she has given to those around her over the years – to friends, family, and complete strangers. My goal is to help alleviate some of the financial stress associated with being unable to work and incurring additional medical costs. I have no doubt that she will find ways to pay your love and generosity forward in the years to come, and even in the midst of this difficult journey.
