Hi, my name is Michelle Colman. I am the youngest of Fatima’s three children, Charlie and Chris being my older brothers. As some of you may or may not know, she has been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for the past two years. She received numerous rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant and many experimental treatments throughout her diagnosis. She passed away yesterday, August 5th, 2022 at 7:52 pm.
No matter how tough things got for her, my mother never stopped caring for her kids and being the light of every moment. For as long as I can remember, she wished her children would achieve a strong education and a bright future—a sacrifice many immigrant parents take on, and one that I would give everything to thank her for.
Everyone who has grown a connection with her knows she would do anything for those she loved, all while cracking jokes and letting her warm personality leave a lasting mark on those she’s met.
There’s no question that seeing your mother or any loved one go through an illness as aggressive as cancer is challenging, but all my family ever wanted for her was to be comfortable and at peace. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, love for family, and countless unforgettably tasty meals!
With your kind support, my family and I can afford the funeral expenses that come along. These expenses include the burial plot, casket, ceremony fees, among others. Anything helps, and if you cannot donate, spreading the word means just as much! On behalf of my mom and dad, Fatima and Carlos, and their children, we thank you for any and all help, thoughts, and prayers. Cheers to the beautiful mark she has left on all of our souls, may we never forget it!
