One Step at a Time - For my Dad

Tax deductible
Hello, my name is Jojo Hall and on November 15th, I'm running (along with some of my siblings) my very first half marathon. 13.1 miles. The longest I've ever run is 5 (which was like a decade ago...). I'm not a runner - not by nature. I've always preferred moving weights. But this time, I'm running. For someone who doesn't get to choose his challenge.

I'm running for my Dad.

Recently, my Dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. He begins treatment at the Mayo Clinic in July before coming home to NC in September to do 4 months of Chemo. After all his treatment, he may still need to have life-changing surgery. It's a long, painful road ahead. But he's facing it head-on, with quiet courage and grit. So I want to face something hard, too. And do it in his honor.

I'm doing this because he doesn't get to opt out of his fight. This isn't just a marathon, it's a love letter. To his strength, to the fight against cancer. To the bond we have as father and son. I'm doing something many (including myself) wouldn't attempt because my love runs deeper than my limits. This is for him and for everyone walking through the fear and pain of a cancer diagnosis.

This half marathon is my way of standing beside him as he fights - one mile at a time. As I dedicate my run to my Dad, I want to raise funds for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, an incredible nonprofit working that:
  • Provides vital resources and support to patients and families facing colorectal cancer.
  • Advocates for increased awareness, early detection, and prevention measures in communities nationwide.
  • Accelerates critical research initiatives to develop new treatments and improve patient outcomes.

If you've ever known someone who has/had cancer - you know how lonely and scary the road can feel. Your donation helps light that road for others. It also helps me carry my Dad's fight with every step I take.

Whether it's $5, $50, or just sharing the link, I appreciate your support more than you know. For my Dad, for all the fighters. For every hard thing worth showing up for.

-Jojo

P.S. - if you do donate and would like to tell me whose name you would like me to run in honor of - I will carry them with me!

**100% of proceeds go to Colorectal Cancer Alliance.**
