Help Train Africa's Teachers Integrate Culture in Learning

African Children Deserve an Education Model that is Rooted in Heritage and Truth. Help us prepare an Afrocentric Teacher Training Toolkit that brings this vision to life!

The problem: Across Africa, 9 out of 10 children are still educated under colonial-era frameworks. They wear uniforms that honor cultures not their own. They are taught in foreign languages. They memorize histories that erase their ancestors’ contributions and greatness. They sit in classrooms that explicitly and implicitly suppress their authenticity and genius. This system has disconnected generations of African children from themselves and their potential. No wonder more than 20 million Africans now live abroad, and every year more follow. We are educated to leave, fit in elsewhere rather than build at home, own our heritage and lead.
Our Solution: An Education Model Grounded in African/Cultural roots and heritage
Eight years ago, we built Freedom International Schools – Africa (FISA) — the first Afrocentric international school model in the world. We have been changing this story and have impacted directly over 700 students. At FISA, children learn through the lens of African heritage and global excellence. For example, they study science through African inventions, math through local applications, history through African voices and legends, and mother tongues alongside global languages. They graduate proud of who they are and confident to serve their continent and the world.
Our model fosters identity, self-efficacy, problem solving and change. It works! Our students are excelling locally and internationally, and our Afrocentric model has won several awards, and drawn attention from educators across Africa and beyond. But we are just one school! Now, it is time to share what we have built with Africa and the world.

The Afrocentric Teacher Training Toolkit
We are raising $77,000 to develop the first Afrocentric Teacher Training Toolkit — a practical, ready-to-use resource to help teachers across Africa transform their classrooms. Right now, there are tens of thousands of teachers across Africa who want to do what we do. They want to tell stories that reflect their students' lives. They want to build lessons where children see themselves as inventors, philosophers, leaders.
But they have no tools. No training. No roadmap on how to integrate cultural heritage and Africa's realities into their classroom practice. Our toolkit will equip teachers across the continent with resources to educate and empower African children, the African way. It will include:
Curriculum guides aligning Afrocentric values with global academic standards.
Lesson plans and case studies highlighting African heroes, scientists, innovators and thinkers.
Training videos and workshops to help teachers decolonize their classrooms and move towards African innovation.
Assessment tools that measure confidence, creativity, cultural pride and global readiness — not just grades.

This toolkit will be Open access (available to any teacher, anywhere), Culturally adaptable (works in any country), Globally aligned (meets IB and UN SDG standards), Proven (backed by eight years of real classroom results at FISA).

Why It Matters
When children learn that their ancestors were mathematicians, architects, healers and philosophers...when they see themselves reflected in science, art, and leadership... they begin to dream differently! They begin to lead differently. And they begin to see Africa and themselves as not broken — but as brilliant... as contributors to the foundations, civilization and growth of the world.
We have seen it in our own students. Now, we want every teacher - in every African country - to have access to the very tools that have worked at FISA. We want them to facilitate and inspire that same transformation.

How we will work
Phase 1: Evaluate & Document (Jan–Apr 2026) — $30000
Independent researchers will visit FISA classrooms, interview teachers, and document what's working. We will publish a baseline report that proves the model — making it credible for ministries, universities and relevant stakeholders.
Phase 2: Design & Pilot (May–Aug 2026) — $25000
We will translate our approach into step-by-step guides, digital courses, and lesson templates. Then we will pilot it with 100 teachers across Kenya and Nigeria.
Phase 3: Field-Test & Launch (Sept 2026–Feb 2027) — $22000
We will implement the toolkit in 5 partner schools, gather feedback, refine it, and launch a free digital platform where teachers worldwide can access it.
Total Goal: $77000

Your support will help us design, produce, and distribute the Afrocentric Teacher Training Toolkit across Africa and the world. Together, let’s reimagine education for African children — not as imitators of someone else’s story but as authors of their own.

Donate, today. Let’s build Africa’s future together, the African way... the ubuntu way... the right way! Africa cannot wait!

Thank you for believing in this vision. Your generosity is helping us build a movement - one that restores pride, dignity, and possibility to African classrooms.
Every contribution brings us closer to a future where our children see themselves as the heroes/heroines, inventors and leaders that they are meant to be. When they know who they are, they can change the world.
Asante sana!
