Support Gary Ward with Hurricane Relief in Carriacou
About Us:
As a resident of Carriacou, Grenada, Gary Ward has experienced the impact of Hurricane Beryl firsthand. He knows our community is strong, but we need your help to rebuild. Families have lost their homes, businesses, and loved ones due to the devastating winds that reached up to 165 mph on July 1, 2024. Gary is the owner of Deefer Diving Carriacou and the Executive Director for Caribbean Reef Buddy, a marine conservation NGO in Carriacou, Grenada.
Our Commitment:
We’ve set up this GoFundMe campaign to provide Gary with the funds to be able to give direct aid to those affected. As a survivor, Gary is personally invested in ensuring that every penny raised goes where it’s needed most. Your support matters, and we’re grateful for your generosity.
Transfer Plan:
Once the campaign concludes, Gary will take personal responsibility for the transfer and use of the funds. Transparency is our priority, and we’ll keep you informed about how your donation is making a difference.
Your contributions will be used for:
Clearance: The island has so many fallen trees, telegraph poles, housing debris that need to be cut down, cleared up, and disposed of. Gary will spend up to £20,000 buying chainsaws, bowsaws, machetes, axes, and other tools that can be used as part of this clearing process.
Rebuilding: £30,000 will be used for building materials and equipment, including generators, lumbar, ply, and roofing materials to help families reconstruct their homes.
Shipping and Logistics: We’ll coordinate with the Government and other agencies to ensure we’re bringing the right materials and equipment to the island; Gary will liaise with NaDMA and other agencies to ensure these logistical challenges are overcome.
Our Goal: We aim to raise £50,000 to assist Gary in supporting Carriacou’s recovery. Every pound counts, and together, we can rebuild lives and create hope in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
