Allison was diagnosed with stage 4 GISTs in May of 2020. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are a rare type of cancer that develop in the digestive tract wall. Up until now, Allison has been managing her cancer with daily oral chemo and surgery in 2020 and 2023. There is no cure for GIST.
Allison will be on oral chemo for the rest of her life. However, her current chemo is no longer working as she has 6 new tumors that have also doubled in size in 6 weeks. The doctors thought she would qualify for a trial chemo but she did not meet all the requirements. Now, the insurance company is not wanting to cover some of her testings and scans.
Allison and her husband Nick have two daughters, June (8) and Emma (5). Raising two daughters while also trying to navigate your cancer management would be challenging for anyone. But Allison pushes through. Not only is she raising two girls, but also trying to help better the community. She has been helping push for new playground equipment and recovery support for addicts. All while taking daily oral chemo.
So I ask for your support. Let us help lessen the financial stress on Nick and Allison so they can spend more time with their girls. To help find better chemo to keep Allison's cancer from spreading. Any amount helps and prayers are always welcome.
