Update at bottom**
Hi Everyone, My name is Nicole.
On Saturday, July 9th, 2022. My Sister Alicia (Vue) Fautt and Her Husband, Kyle Fautt were in a life-threatening motorcycle accident on their way home in Ellsworth, WI.
They both lay on the side of the road for an unclear amount of time before they were found. Unresponsive and rating zero on her neurological exam in the field, Alicia was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
She was rushed into Emergency Brain surgery upon arrival at the emergency department. Kyle was stitched up and Discharged soon after.
Due to Alicia's previous history of Traumatic Brain Injury and previous operations on her head, the surgeon explained this made her injuries much more severe.
She is in the Surgical ICU and is currently on breathing and feeding tubes.
Over the last two days, Alicia's condition has been improving far more than expected. She can respond to commands, shake her head "yes" and "no," wiggle her toes, and move her entire body. She even wrote on paper today!
My sister is many things to many people: a daughter, sister, wife, auntie, and friend. But Greatest of all, she is a mother.
I know that she is fighting as hard as she is so that she can see her children, ages 14, 11, 10, and 7.
We understand that this is going to be a very long road to recovery and want to be able to update everyone in the most efficient way possible.
Everyone who has said a prayer, sent money, watched children, and asked how she is doing- we, as a family, appreciate you more than we could ever express. She is so loved.
I will update Her Caring Bridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/aliciafautt
as often as possible.
We encourage your continued prayers and well wishes as we carry my Sister through this long and challenging journey as a family.
We are asking for donations to help cover the leftover cost of her medical bills, gas and lost wages for family members who are taking time away from work to help care for Alicia and her kids and any expenses that may arise.
Thank you.
Update ** 7/25/2022
Now that we have a better picture of my sisters recovery, knowing she may need a much longer rehabilitation and may not be able to care for herself or her children for quite some time. Alicias children are going to be living with family and going to school in Rochester for the upcoming school year, we are hoping for donations to help us support them with clothes, school supplies and anything else they may need.
Thank you .
