Help Me Build a 7th Grade Classroom Library Full of Joy + Representation
Hi! My name is Summayyah, and I’m an English Language Arts teacher getting ready to welcome a group of 7th graders this school year in San Antonio. I’m incredibly excited and deeply committed to helping my students fall in love with reading.
But here’s the truth: many kids don’t have books at home that reflect their lives, cultures, or imaginations. I want to change that. I’m building a classroom library filled with books by diverse authors, graphic novels, coming-of-age stories, poetry, and powerful nonfiction. Books that hook kids. Books that help them feel seen.
I’ve already started collecting titles and investing in materials, but to really stock our shelves with quality, engaging, diverse reads, I need support.
Your donation will help me:
• Purchase 50–75 new books for our classroom
• Create a cozy reading nook with pillows
• Provide books that represent a wide range of cultures, genders, and experiences
Even $5 helps us get closer. And if you can’t give, sharing this means the world. Together, we can create a space where reading feels like liberation.
Thank you for pouring into this next generation of readers.
With love and gratitude,
Ms. Summayyah
