Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because I need help covering the cost of a medical procedure called an SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) ablation.
For around 2 years, I’ve been dealing with episodes where my heart suddenly starts racing out of control (220-245 bpm). I may feel dizzy, lightheaded, or close to fainting. These episodes can last anywhere from a few seconds to over 15 minutes and can be scary, exhausting, and unpredictable, affecting my daily life, career opportunities, and overall well-being.
I love being in the water, freediving and spearfishing, and the fear of an episode occurring while I am underwater, has kept me from these past-times for more than 2 years. I have turned down job opportunities, such as working on boats, due to the unpredictability of the condition and the fear of a medical emergency occurring while I am at sea.
I have seen a cardiology electrophysiologist, Dr Agnihotri at The Cardiovascular Center of Florida in Orlando. He determined that an ablation procedure is the best option to treat this condition, and prevent future episodes. Without the ablation, episodes will increase in frequency and intensity.
While this procedure offers a real chance at a normal, healthy life, and the chance to have a successful career, the costs are more than me and my family can manage on our own. Between the travel costs, doctor’s bills, hospital fees, and recovery time, the financial burden is overwhelming. Dr A performs ablations at the HCA Florida Osceola Hospital in Orlando, and we have received cost estimates of:
$765 - Electrophysiologist, Dr Agnihotri
$2,176 - Anesthesiologist
$30,550 - transesophageal echocardiogram CPT 93312, ablation procedure CPT 93653 & hospital costs at HCA Florida Osceola
$2,000 - Travel costs Marsh Harbour to Orlando return
Total: $35,491
That’s why I’m asking for your support.
Any donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward:
The ablation procedure
Hospital and medical expenses
Travel and follow-up care
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give. It truly means everything to me, to have people in my corner during this time.
With gratitude,
-Stephen Keyser
Tax deductible donations can be made through The Wilcher Foundation. The Wilcher family have been instrumental in getting me the help I need, facilitating travel and appointments, and hosting my mom (Twanette) and I when we saw the cardiologist for extensive tests in January 2026. The Wilcher Foundation supports the youth on Great Guana Cay and have been closely involved with the children and youth of the island since first volunteering in 2020, in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian.
