My name is Lizz Hooks and I’m Stephanie Hooks’ mama. I’m reaching out to share a heartfelt story about my daughter and her incredible friend, Myrna. As many of you know, Stephanie is a devoted mother to her six-year-old little boy, who depends on her every day as well as 4 nieces & nephews. Stephanie is an 8th-grade math teacher in Tolleson School District and loves her job. Stephanie was told her kidneys were scarred and losing function. We were told she needed a new kidney.

I asked my daughter if I could post her need for a kidney and she said yes. I made a Facebook post just as a mom asking for help as I did not match as a doner. Then out of heaven This AMAZING WOMAN, Myrna Cardenas, saw my post and remembered us from church. She decided to get tested, and she was a MATCH!

Myrna has made the selfless decision to donate a kidney to Stephanie, and I couldn't be more grateful to her and God for this bond he has orchestrated.

As they prepare for this life-changing journey, both of them will need support during their recovery. I’m setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover medical expenses for both Stephanie and Myrna. It’s important to me that they have the resources they need to heal and support their families during this time.
