Say hello to Sophia - the strongest 8-year-old you ever met!

Sophia’s journey began on February 23rd, 2025, when she was rushed to the emergency room due to severe stomach pain thought to be appendicitis. After a CT scan showed a cluster of tumors blocking her bowels (the largest of which being 15cm), Sophia was transferred to Chicago for further testing. Following a biopsy on the 24th, doctors concluded that Sophia’s tumors were cancerous. On February 26th, Sophia was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma.

After countless rounds of chemotherapy, Sophia returned home to her family and friends from her last hospital stay on May 19th! She awaits one final scan, which will determine if she is 100% cancer-free

During the initial biopsy, a gene was found that may cause the cancer to return, or Sophia to relapse. Due to this, she will begin seeing a genetic specialist in order to determine next steps. While more rounds of chemotherapy may be necessary in the future, we remain hopeful that cancer stops here

Throughout this long and trying time, both Sophia’s mom and her fiancé have been out of work in order to take care of and spend time with their baby girl. This, along with the multitude of hospital bills, has caused a lot of financial strain on the family. While another GoFundMe was set up previously to help cover expenses, it was just enough to cover the mortgage during that time. We are starting this new page in the hopes of increasing the donation goal to be able to take care of the costs of all current and future medical expenses, gas to and from the hospital(s), and other bills that have compiled during this time.
