My name is Sonja McGowan, and I am seeking your financial support as I manage difficult treatment with Stage 4 lung cancer. I am a mother of 4 and a grandmother of 10 grandchildren, with two grandchildren currently being raised by me. I take pride in raising my grandchildren and providing them with the care and stability that they need. I was recently working as a security officer but unfortunately, I need to seek short-term disability to focus on my aggressive cancer treatment. With your donation, you’ll be helping me with the following:

Financial support for treatment: I continue to do frequent chemotherapy treatment which will continue over the next year to also eventually include radiation treatment. My medical treatment is very expensive and far beyond what I can afford on short-term disability.

Financial support for living and caregiver expenses while on disability leave: I will continue to provide for myself and the two grandchildren that I’m proudly raising and caring for. Continuing to provide a caring home and managing daily living expenses including monthly rent and food are a main priority but will be difficult to maintain on short-term disability in addition to the added medical expenses.
