Sofia's Journey to Overcome Breast Cancer

My incredible mom, Sofia Barrera, has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. This news has shaken our family even more to its core, and we are doing everything we can to support her through this difficult time.

My mom has always been the rock of our family—strong, loving, and endlessly supportive. From helping with school projects to giving advice and lending a listening ear, she has been there for us through every challenge and joy. She is very strong and resilient, but now, she needs our help more than ever.

The journey ahead is daunting. The combined treatment for breast and ovarian cancer involves a range of medical interventions, including surgery, chemotherapy, and possibly radiation. Since she is from Mexico, she will have to get her treatment done in over there so traveling expenses will also add up. My brother is also autistic so he will have to travel along due to his needs. On top of that, the time required for treatment means Mom is unable to work, adding an additional strain to our family’s finances.

To give my Mom the best chance at recovery and to alleviate some of the financial stress she is facing, we have set a goal to raise at least $10,000. This amount will help cover:

Medical expenses not covered by insurance

Prescription medications

Medical Exams

Travel and accommodation costs for treatment

Daily living expenses during her treatment period
