My name is SkyLynn and I am currently a Junior at Indiana State University, majoring in General Studies and Early Childhood Education.

Last spring I had to take the semester off because my tuition was too high. I have been paying my tuition down from 9,000 since January . I was hoping to return to school this August. But have unfortunately ran into some problems. I applied for my 2024-2025 FASFA in June. But I recently found out after I called financial aid at school they told me I would not be receiving it and that they are focusing on new and returning students. They said it was packaged but I will not receive it until I am enrolled in school again. Which is really hard because I was going to use the FASFA to help enroll again. I asked them for other options and they told me I should consider coming back in January. I have called FASFA and they said they have never heard of anything like that before. I asked ISU if there were other things I could do and they told me no. I have tried to take out personal loans but I don’t make enough money to qualify. I have tried to take a loan out from the bank and got denied. I’ve also tried to set up credit cards to help and was also denied. Right now I am currently looking at grants but I’m worried about timing. My tuition is currently at 4,220.96 and has to be below 1000 in order for me to register for classes which start August 20th.

School means a lot to me and not being able to go back was and still is weighing on me heavily. If you know me then you know how much this means to me. I am grateful for whoever interacts with this in any way! And I do not take anything for granted. Sometimes I have a hard time asking for help but this is one way I am trying ! Thank you
