SIMPLY CREPES RESTAURANT LAUNCHES EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO HELP FAMILIES IMPACTED BY GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN AMIDST SNAP CRISIS
$10 = 1 bag, feeds one family!
The Heroux Family at Simply Crepes in Rochester NY, owned by Pierre and Karen Heroux, have put together a program to help families who are experiencing hardship as a result of the Federal Government shutdown and WOW! the community has shown up! Many have asked how they can support our efforts. After careful consideration, the best way for you to help is with a monetary gift from your family. With the funds, our efforts can be extended beyond our own capabilities! ANY amount, large or small, helps!
The following activities will run through the month of November and possibly beyond:
1. Emergency Food Distribution Center
When: Tuesdays through November (11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 11/25) from 1pm - 3pm or while supplies last.
Where: Simply Crepes Webster-Penfield (1229 Bay Rd, Webster)
A typical emergency food bag will contain items such as:
One dozen fresh eggs, fresh produce, flour, salted butter, ground coffee, kids' cereal bars, and other items.
Who is eligible?
Any SNAP & WIC recipient showing proof. One bag per household.
2. Food Collection Boxes at all stores. Non-perishable food items will be donated to local food cupboards.
3. Opportunity for our customers to "round up" their checks. All monies collected from the "round up" efforts will be donated to our distribution initiative and local food pantries.
Why we are looking for monetary donations:
Our company funds can only go so far. We are proud to partner with Orbaker's Farm Market in Williamson, NY to gift 100 bags of fresh food each week, but more is needed to support the community.
Money collected from this fund will be used to purchase fresh groceries in higher quantity, ultimately allowing us to feed more families.
Any amount is welcome! $10 feeds one family.
How you are related to the person(s) you are raising funds for:
Simply Crepes has no personal connection to the cause, however we do business in the Greater Rochester, NY area and believe it is our civic duty to support the community when in need.
Your transfer plan to get the funds from your GoFundMe to the intended recipient(s)?
Simply Crepes has used our own restaurant space to host pop-up food distribution center every Tuesday through November, including 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 11/25. Recipients of food donations are welcome to pick up food donations between 1-5pm on those days.
How the funds will be spent?
Monies collected are being used to purchase food from Wegmans, US Foods, Tarantino, Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters and local farmers that is donated to WIC and SNAP recipients whose benefits were delayed due to the Federal Government Shutdown. We have receipts for proof of purchases if needed.
We also used money collected <$250, for flyers, posters to communicate the effort to the public and for plastic bags to distribute the food
we are reaching out to donors by contacting local churches, food banks, press releases to the media, and word of mouth through Facebook and community pages.
