Donate to Ship a Life-Changing Wheelchair to a Disabled Vet

Donation protected
Goal: help a 100% disabled, Vietnam Veteran regain mobility and independence. A tracked wheelchair has been donated from another veteran family in Illinois. We need help covering the freight costs to have it shipped to Fairbanks, Alaska. Our much-loved friend, Jerry Remington, has been fighting the VA to get a wheelchair he can use, but so far, they have failed at meeting his needs. He has one hand, so needs a power chair.

He lives in a semi-remote community in Alaska, with a gravel driveway, so wheelchairs with small tires are not functional for our area. This tracked wheelchair can improve his quality of life, giving him mobility outside the home. He can regain some independence and begin to do outdoor activities he enjoys- going to the mailbox, hunting, fishing, and just enjoying the great outdoors.

This is a man who is humble, generous to a fault, loving, and a true inspiration for younger generations. Even if you cannot donate, please share far and wide to help make a difference. Our senior citizens and our veterans deserve better, and this will make a huge difference for a wonderul person.

Please note, if you are not comfortable donating through this site, but still want to contribute financially, donations can be mailed or or dropped off at the Salcha Senior Center. Please address mail to Jerry Remington, care of Salcha Seniors, 6062 Johnson Road, Salcha, AK 99714. Thank you!
