Support Sheryl's Double Lung Transplant Journey
Donation protected
Myself, my sister, and my brother decided to create a GoFundMe for our mom, who will be needing help with expenses for medical bills, housing, and everyday costs as she begins her journey of having a double lung transplant.
In 2017, our mom, Sheryl, was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema. Prior to being diagnosed, she had her lungs collapse three different times, leading to a diagnosis in 2017. Over the years, the disease has drastically worsened her ability to complete day-to-day tasks on her own. She is currently at the end stages of COPD and has no other options other than to have a double lung transplant.
This last month has really started to take a financial toll on her as the testing at UW Medical Center and constant appointments, hotel costs, and traveling are beginning to add up. After she has the transplant done, which could be as soon as four months from now, she will also have to relocate to somewhere closer to UW Medical Center for a minimum of three months in order to be close to the hospital in case her body rejects the lungs or any complications do happen she is close to the hospital.
My mom has always been one to go above and beyond for the ones she loves and cares for her. She is far to young to let this disease take her life and she is fighting back as hard as she can. Our hopes as well as our moms hope is that with this transplant she will be able to enjoy a better quality of life, as well as not only give her children more time with her in this life but also her granddaughter time, important memories, and all the little things in between.
If you are not able to donate at this time please feel free to share this fundraiser or say a few words of encouragement and keep us all in your thoughts and prayers during this journey ahead of us. Any donations, words, prayers, and thoughts are very much appreciated.
Thank you to all!
