My name is Shawn, and I’m a 52-year-old husband and proud father of two amazing boys. Until recently, I was working full-time, doing everything I could to provide for my family. But life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and stage 5 kidney failure. The severity of my condition has forced me onto short-term disability. While I’m doing everything in my power to recover, there’s a real possibility I may not be able to return to work full-time.
I’ve applied for long-term disability, but after being denied once, I’m now waiting—hoping—for a different outcome. In the meantime, the bills haven’t stopped. Medical expenses are piling up, and the gap between what I used to earn and what I receive now is growing wider by the day. I’ve always tried to shoulder these burdens on my own, but the truth is, I can’t do it alone anymore.
This isn’t the end of my story. I refuse to give up on my role as a provider, a father, and a man with purpose. I’m asking for a little help to get through this chapter—just enough to keep my family afloat while I fight to heal, to work again, and to reclaim the life we’ve built. If you’re able to give, share, or simply send encouragement, it means more than you’ll ever know.
