Shawnee's Medical Journey and Bucket List Goals

***Update from Shawnee (Aug. 31):

I was heavily debating on having my good friend Brooke Chaney, start this go fund me campaign for unforeseen medical expenses to come, while also completing my bucket list goals. With the recent news I received from my Advanced heart failure transplant doctor, I am no longer a suitable candidate for a heart transplant. This sudden change is because of how sick my heart is and how my other vital organs and systems are being affected by my very strained and unstable ❤️ at this time. I now have 4 more doctors at OHSU that I will need to see regularly, along with my advanced heart failure doctor. Time is definitely not on my side. This is why I am asking for your help now. It is extremely hard for me and my family to ask for help due to the fear of being vulnerable and judgments that may be placed on myself and my family. I prayed about this and also prayed in how I was going to tell my story, create a living purpose diary for my loved ones, while still trying to implement some financial security for what’s yet to come. This go fund me will also help me accomplish list goals that are on my Shawnee’s Journey Facebook page. I wouldn’t be able to fight the good fight medically and be able to create memories and adventures with my loved ones without supporters and donors like you. The money that is raised will be going towards traveling for my many appointments to OHSU, surgeries, and therapy appointments to help me through this next phase of my life. It would be such a blessing for my loved ones and me if we were able to create memories and have some of the financial burden lifted off of my family, especially my amazing husband Nathan Smith. Unfortunately time is not on my side, and this is why my family is now asking for your support in any way your ❤️ tells you. I am now starting to feel the uncertainty and worry again like I did when my medical illness began. This weighs heavy on my ❤️, and is a very scary place to be in. The feeling of having no control on what’s happening in this stage of my life and my family’s lives is a very hard place to be in.
