Mr. Shaun Miller has been on the Inspection team for EnLink dating back to 2014. Shaun is currently the Area Chief Inspector for the Permian and has been for the last 2 years. Shaun is one of the best inspectors and leaders we know. He goes above and beyond our expectations in all that he does. On February 14, 2022, Shaun was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer which metastasized to his liver, resulting in Stage IV Colorectal Cancer. When Shaun found out his life came crashing down. The next few weeks were a blur with a whirlwind of emotions, but there is one thing that was not rattled and that still remains, his faith in the Lord! We all know God has a bigger plan for his life and Shaun plans on living it to the fullest no matter the outcome. The truth about cancer is simple, it’s horrible, and you can choose to let it negatively consume you or you can choose to get up and fight! He is fighting with the help of his family and friends. Shaun is married to his wife Lydia who has been his backbone through all this. She is fighting so hard for her husband. Not taking no from any doctors and researching different treatments, she is not giving up on him! He also has two children (Brayden and Gabrielle) and two amazing grandkids. Shaun’s support runs so deep, we continuously keep Shaun in our prayers and are always there when he needs support. Shaun continues to do his job for EnLink no matter how he feels with little to no complaining. He is currently in and out of chemo and radiation treatments and doctor visits and he still is engaged in his work and never misses a beat. You can ask anyone in the Permian, and they would all agree, if Shaun wasn’t in the position he is in the Permian construction wouldn’t run as smooth as it does. He has his hands in a little bit of everything. Shaun is a child of God, a believer, husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. He has integrity, is loyal, trustworthy, hard worker, and just an overall outstanding human being.
Shaun needs a procedure that could save his life, Histotripsy. He was scheduled to have the procedure August 9th, but his insurance denied the procedure calling it unproven. Histotripsy is a new technology, so it does not have a lot of data to support it yet. The data that they do have has proven that it is the most beneficial in colorectal cancer with metastasis to the liver. They pulled 15 cases of great results that changed the course of these patients’ lives! However, Shaun is 3 denial appeals in and they have called for an IRO (independent review organization) from outside Doctors who have nothing to do with Shaun’s current insurance provider or healthcare professionals. Medicare and Medicaid are paying for these procedures already, but private commercial insurance is not. It is so frustrating.
Shaun’s oncologist thinks that the liver procedure can be successful with 3-5 treatments. They quoted a cash price of $60,000 per treatment, which would result in $300,000 for that procedure alone. There is no way that the family can come up with $180,000 -$300,000. Lydia and all of Shaun’s team of Specialist are still fighting the insurance daily. Eventually all insurance companies will start paying for these lifesaving procedures, but that takes time, something that Shaun is battling. Shaun’s health has declined recently, and he needs this procedure now more than ever.
We are requesting help from the community for funds to help him pay for medical bills, surgery, and help with cancer treatments. We are requesting help for funds to allow Shaun a lifesaving treatment that would give him and his family the greatest gift of all, time.
