Our beautiful friend Shannon has spent her life caring for her family and others—especially her nonverbal adult son, who depends on her for everything. She is his world, and he is hers. But now, Shannon needs our help.

Shannon is fighting metastatic breast cancer, and the treatments that have kept her alive have also caused devastating damage to her hip and pelvis. Her pelvis is fractured, and she now needs a complex hip replacement surgery with special custom modifications to repair the bone and socket.

She will be in the hospital for several days, followed by weeks of rehabilitation to learn to walk again. During this time, she will be unable to care for her son—something that breaks her heart even more than the pain she's enduring.

Her biggest worry isn't the surgery or recovery—it's who will take care of her son while she's away. He needs help with everything: washing, changing, eating, and getting ready for his daily program. Shannon has always done it all, but right now, she simply can't.

We are asking for help to provide an in-home health aide to care for her son and help cover any other medical expenses during and after her surgery. This support will give Shannon the peace of mind she needs to heal and recover safely, knowing her son is in good hands.
