Dear friends, family, and community,

My name is Erma Ratliff, and I'm reaching out to share updates about my niece, Shaily Calderon. On Monday, March 17th, Shaily was involved in a tragic single-car accident. She lost control of her vehicle and sustained severe, life-changing injuries.

Shaily suffered a spinal cord injury, a broken back, a broken femur, and a broken scapula. She has already undergone multiple surgeries and is currently paralyzed from the mid-chest down.

Shaily is a senior at Chaparral High School, and like so many teens her age, she was looking forward to prom, graduation, making memories with friends, and chasing big dreams. She had been accepted to Pittsburg State University and was planning to study physical therapy, excited to one day help others heal. This unexpected turn has brought major challenges, but if you know Shaily, you know she’s fierce, resilient, and full of fight. Her strength and determination are already shining through as she begins this new chapter of her recovery.

We created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of her medical care, rehabilitation, and the many changes that come with such a life-altering injury.
