Selinda’s Medical Journey

Update 3/18/25: Hey everyone, just a quick update on Selinda. She was readmitted to the hospital last week due to pulmonary edema, which caused her oxygen levels to drop. She’s stable & receiving care, but we ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts & prayers.

Update 2/18/25: Selinda is HOME!!!

Update 2/9/25: Selinda’s surgery Friday was successful! She had a fun day today celebrating with her sissy!

Update 2/3/25: Look who is off her oxygen! She has a Fundoplication with Gastrostomy procedure on Friday ❤️

Update 1/21/25: Selinda will have another surgery in a few weeks, making it her 6th. Despite everything, her little smile lights up the room. Watching her go through this has been heartbreaking, but we are constantly in awe of the strength God has given her.

Today, she moved from the PICU to the Surgery & Cardiology Step-Down Unit. Samantha was not able to visit her when she was in the PICU(with the exception of Christmas Day), but now she can come hangout with sissy more often❤️

Update 1/15/25: We were finally able to hold her after almost 2 months! She is healing more each day & we are so grateful for that!

Update 1/9/25: Selinda will have another surgery today to get a permanent pacemaker.

Update 1/3/25: It’s been two weeks since Selinda’s heart surgery, and she still has a long road ahead of her. She currently has the temporary pacemaker wires in place for backup and remains on the ventilator.

They are working to decrease the ventilator support and reduce her sedation medications. They are also beginning the process of introducing feeds through her NG tube. While they’ve tried to make progress with these changes before, there have been some setbacks. We are praying that Selinda will be ready to handle this next step of her healing process!

This has been incredibly painful for us to watch as she endures so much. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We’ll keep everyone updated as Selinda continues her recovery. We praise the Lord for what he’s done and what he’ll continue to do for our girl.

12/25/24: Merry Christmas❤️ So glad our wish to be together for Christmas came true!

Update 12/20/24:

Update 12/19/24: Please continue to keep Selinda in your prayers as well as her surgical team. She will have heart surgery tomorrow morning.

[Selinda’s Story]
12/14/24
My sister, Selitta, and her husband, Palmer, are parents to beautiful 6-month old twin girls, Selinda and Samantha.

Samantha continues to grow and thrive while Selinda has been facing significant health challenges since birth.

Selinda has Ebstein’s Anomaly, a rare and complex heart defect and was scheduled to undergo heart surgery soon. However, she had to have an unexpected surgery for intestinal malrotation with volvulus—a life-threatening condition. To make matters more difficult, she currently has pneumonia.

Selinda has spent a total of four of her six months of life in the hospital due to complications, procedures, and recovery needs. Her current hospitalization will likely be her longest yet, as she fights to regain her strength and prepare for the surgeries and treatments still ahead.

Donations will go toward covering current hospital bills and upcoming medical expenses. At the start of the year, their insurance deductible will reset, bringing additional out-of-pocket expenses.

Through it all, we are reminded that God is in control. While the road ahead is uncertain and filled with challenges, we trust in His plan for Selinda’s life. Your prayers mean so much to our family. We know that God is working through the care of Selinda’s doctors, the support of loved ones, and the kindness of everyone who has reached out.

Every contribution means so much ❤️
