This year has brought a number of unwelcome changes to my life. My husband & I have separated and he moved out several months ago, and then I was evicted from my home of the last 14 years and am currently experiencing homelessness.
I have been working with local outreach services to find a bed in a homeless or women’s shelter with no luck so far. I no longer drive & do not have a vehicle to sleep in. I have been bouncing from couches to motel rooms that I cannot actually afford. I am very afraid I am going to end up in an unsafe position on the streets.
I am disabled by a panoply of chronic health conditions including Long Covid, I have been out of work for a long time and do not have any income except for the meager benefits I receive from Social Services (food stamps, Medi Cal, a small amount of general relief). I could not apply for disability until I was separated but am in the process of doing so.
I am seeking financial assistance to help cover the following costs:
• moving & storage for what personal belongings remain in my old residence
• transportation to necessary medical, dental, & social services appointments
• temporary living costs at a cheap motel until I have a shelter bed and/or (preferably)
•move in costs/initial rent for an inexpensive permanent rental space (room for rent, studio apartment, etc)
Any donation amount will help and be greatly appreciated! And so are good wishes if you cannot afford to help (I know things are tight for everyone.) I am rather desperate at this point and must throw myself on the goodwill of kind friends and strangers. Thank you for reading this far, and please share if you can.
