Help a Devoted Dad Send His Daughter to College While Battling Cancer
Hi, my name is Milan Castaneda, and this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write.
I’m a father, a husband, and until recently, a healthy, hard-working man who believed I could always provide for my family no matter what life threw our way. But a few months ago, life threw a curveball I never saw coming: cancer. I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, and I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy. It’s taken a toll on my body, but more than that, it’s shaken the foundation I’ve always stood on — the one that says, “I’ll take care of us.”
Through all of this, the one light that keeps me going is my daughter, Kaylin.
Kaylin is 21, and she’s my pride and joy. Ever since she was a little girl, she’s had this gift she connects with people in a way that lifts them up, makes them feel heard, and reminds them they matter. It’s no surprise that she found her passion in public relations. She’s a natural. She’s currently studying at Arizona State University, and she’s just a year away from graduating with her degree.
Kaylin has worked so hard to get where she is. She’s taken on part-time jobs, earned scholarships, and sacrificed so much to chase her dreams. But with my diagnosis, everything changed. Our savings are going toward medical bills, medications, and just making ends meet. We’re doing everything we can, but it’s simply not enough and now, her final year of school is at risk.
That’s why I’m asking for your help.
We’re raising $9,000 to help cover Kaylin’s final year at ASU — tuition, books, and essential living expenses. It’s not just about a degree. It’s about finishing something we started together. It’s about giving her the future she’s worked so hard for one I’ve dreamed of for her since the day she was born. I may be fighting cancer, but she’s fighting for her dreams and I want her to know that she’s not alone.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Kaylin’s education. And if you’re unable to give, we ask you to please share this page with others who might be able to help.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story. Thank you for your support, your prayers, and your kindness.
With gratitude and hope,
Milan & Kaylin Castaneda
