Help Me Get the Medical Care I Urgently Need

Hi, my name is Stephen Gutierrez, and I’m reaching out for help in a way I never thought I would. I’ve always tried to handle everything on my own, but right now, I simply can’t do it alone.

Since October 2024, I’ve been battling a serious and painful health condition that has progressively worsened. It began with intense cramping, vomiting, and being unable to keep food down for days. I kept pushing through the pain, hoping it would pass, but by March 2025, the symptoms became a constant part of my daily life.

I’ve lost over 50 pounds, and by June 1, I could no longer take it. A high fever and unbearable pain finally sent me to the ER, where I spent a week in the hospital. After several scans and evaluations, doctors suspect Crohn’s disease, an autoimmune disorder, or potentially a ruptured appendix. They found severe inflammation and infection around my colon, small intestine, and appendix—but without insurance, they couldn’t perform the procedures needed to confirm the diagnosis.

Now I’m being discharged, but my fight isn’t over.

Doctors have recommended several critical follow-up procedures—a colonoscopy, more CT scans, and ongoing specialist care. Unfortunately, I don’t have health insurance, and I’m not eligible for Medicaid or any other state aid. I lost my full-time job in January and now work as a gig worker for Amazon Flex, which provides no benefits.

That’s why I’ve started this GoFundMe.

I’m asking for $5,000 to help me secure health insurance. Not to pay rent, not for bills—just enough to get coverage so I can finally be seen, properly diagnosed, and treated before things get worse.

I’m 33 years old, a husband, and a father of two boys. I’ve never had a major medical emergency before. I never thought I’d be in a position like this, and asking for help is not easy. But I’m doing this for my family—and for my future. God has done so much in my life that I’ve never had to ask like this but I am now.
