I have been fighting throat cancer for the last 6+ months and living on short-term disability, which barely covers my rent and does not come close to covering the rest of my normal living expenses. I was just informed that my employer has canceled my health insurance because they only cover a person on a medical leave of absence for 6 months, and now I find myself in dire straits.

I need to have surgery to have an artificial larynx put in so I can communicate by talking and return to work. The only way I can get this done is to have insurance. Once I return to work, I will be eligible to restart my insurance in the new year. I am trying to raise $4,000 to cover the cost of health insurance to take me through the new year (when I can once again obtain insurance through work) and to cover a few other medical expenses I have incurred since losing my insurance. I have never asked anyone for help with anything, and this is killing me, but I don't have a choice at this point. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.
