My name is Kayo Haggard. Fourteen years ago, my mom and I moved into a home we thought would be our final landing spot. This home gave us stability and safety. This home allowed me to transition and go to college. This home gave a home to rescue animals that wouldn’t have had a chance without it. My home kept my mom housed during the pandemic when she lost her job due to the pandemic. We are now losing this home that we thought was going to be our safety forever. I am asking for help. I need to hire a lawyer to stall the sale of my home and find a new place to keep my family together. That is my goal: to keep my family together. I made a promise to these animals and my mom that I would find a way. To do so, I need to ask for help. Please know any donations will go towards that promise. I am trans, queer, and disabled—these very things were brought up as reasons why my house is being sold. I am scared and don’t want to see my mother homeless when she should be planning retirement. Anything helps, and all funds will go to legal aid and/or immediate emergency housing.
I value transparency, and any costs this money goes to, I will do my best to post in the safest way possible for my family.
