Donate to Secure a New Building for Discovery Charter School

Tax deductible
At DCS, we are dedicated to enhancing our educational offerings to better serve our students and their families. Over the next two years, we aim to secure new facilities that will allow us to grow our pre-K-8 program and introduce services for high school students, including sports programs and health services. Our goal is to provide equitable opportunities for all students while fostering a strong community of support.

Since our founding in 2016, we have faced various challenges. DCS experienced a complete turnover in administrative leadership and board membership in 2017. Consequently, we have had to navigate a more strained relationship with the landlord. Year to year, we continue to experience high operating costs, serious maintenance concerns, and a lack of space to grow. We have made significant strides in managing our budget while maintaining a 15% fund balance (which is critical in being able to finance a new project). Now we are at a pivotal point in our growth and to move forward successfully, we need the support and input of our dedicated community.

Discovery Charter School has retained excellent teachers and staff throughout the years. Their care and dedication has contributed to an amazing culture of teaching and learning at DCS. Over the years we have been able to target and accelerate growth, and our reading scores have exceeded the statewide scores as well as those of the resident districts. Keeping our DCS community intact is our main goal, so that we can continue the momentum forward in our academic growth and student-centered care.

Until we can expand and enroll more students, we will not be able to sustain the business of providing an excellent education. Without a larger and safer space we cannot grow. We have 2 1/2 years left on the lease and greatly wish to find a building where we are not competing for space, students, and resources. We anticipate lower maintenance and facilities costs in a new space. We would also like to create a program for electric school buses through government grants, which would reduce the cost of our transportation. We just need the space!

Our deepest gratitude for your support...
