About the film
Following his 18th birthday, a young man named Nance finds himself in a strange new world. In order to make it back to his home, Nance must first trek through a wilderness that is as amazing as it is dangerous.
Nance is being filmed in 2026.
This short film is a SCAD Senior thesis project.
What We Need & What You Get
We are aiming to raise $7000
What are you donating to?
1. Locations
- Some locations that take place in the film will cost us to take time and film on the property. Aside from a house location, we will need to find somewhere out in the woods. Finding land to film on won't be cheap.
2. Catering
- As we will gather a large crew together, Kait will need to feed her people for the days we are on set. Crew could be from 20-40 people and catering for larger groups will be something we need to consider with our budget.
3. U-haul
- The woods we are looking for won't be in the easily accessible areas of Savannah, we will need to have room for production design and camera equipment and efficiently take these items to and from set.
4. Generators
- We are filming in winter of 2026, it will be COLD. Having generators won't only give us electricity for our lighting, but Kait could afford to provide heat on set for her crew.
5. Costume
- Miller's idea for our creature is so defined and unique. We have a costume designer who can benefit from making a safe costume for our actor by using the proper tools and prosthetics.
6. Production Design
- Who can make a film without having a designed set? We have specific ideas for the production design and it will cost us to provide those props and items to make the film look and be efficient.
7. Hard Drives
- Filming on expensive camera equipment isn't easy to move to your computer. We need to buy large hard drives to hold the type of footage that we use.
8. Portapotties
- Unfortunately, not many wood locations provide bathrooms. As the crew will be on set for 12 hours, we need to provide bathroom use for our team.
9. Rentals
- If we go about renting camera lens, lighting equipment, walkie talkies, and more... having a budget to help us provide for these things will benefit us in Thebes way possible.
10. Contingency
- Our "Fluff" if you will... Having a little extra money could help us in scenarios where we may not exactly plan for. I think of contingency as having this in case something doesn't go as planned.
Risks & Challenges
Life hits you with unexpected round-a-bouts and as we plan during pre-production we may end up coming across challenges such as intense competition or significant time and effort towards the project. Asking for money isn't easy, especially where we sit but we are willing to take the risk and aim to raise as much as we can in order to efficiently make this film with what we have.
