Donate to Save Va's Sister's Life
Donation protected
Va and I met two and a half years ago through working at Hormel Foods. The day I met him, I knew he was a special person. He is kind, he is selfless, and he is a valuable asset to the Hormel team. His work ethic and leadership skills correlate directly to how he spends his other 16 hours a day outside of work; supporting others.
Va’s leadership doesn’t stop when he clocks out at the end of his day. He is a huge part of the Des Moines and Chin community. He uses his past experience of moving to the United States and becoming a citizen to help others do the same. He uses his house as a place to host and help others find jobs and housing, become a citizen, purchase a car, apply for healthcare, enroll in school, and so many other basic needs.
Last year, Va’s mother passed away with one final wish for her son—to take care of their family. Va is doing everything he can to honor her request, but his sister needs a kidney transplant and relies on weekly dialysis to stay alive. Va has been sending money back home to India to support her treatments. He now faces the prospect of exhausting his personal finances and is considering having to resign from his role at Hormel to access all of his retirement savings, which still won’t cover the cost of the transplant.
This spring, Va and his wife celebrated the arrival of their first child, a beautiful baby girl and Va’s wife is a full-time stay-at-home mom, meaning they depend entirely on Va’s income and benefits. If he resigns, he will lose not only his paycheck but also critical healthcare coverage for his family. Va is in a desperate situation, and we have an opportunity to step in and help someone who has spent his life helping others.
Let's help him fulfill his promise. Every donation matters.
