Urgent Medical Fundraiser for Birtchfield “Teddy / Buju” Charles

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

We reach out today on behalf of our beloved brother, Birtchfield Kimbert Charles, affectionately known as Teddy or Buju to the Augier Vieux Fort community, Charles to the Ravine Chabot community, colleagues, and countless friends.

Teddy has always been known for his warm heart, dedication, and vibrant spirit. A father, A son, A brother. Many of you may remember him as a bus driver on the Augier route, and currently as a staff at Hebah Limited (Baywalk). Sadly, Teddy’s life took an unexpected and devastating turn.

Since 2024, he has suffered from severe right-sided facial pain, linked to the fifth (V) cranial nerve. After enduring months of agony, a brain MRI performed on June 14, 2025 revealed what we feared most: a tumor mass on the V cranial nerve located in Meckel's cave.

Despite being placed on medication, his pain remains excruciating and constant. Teddy can now only see in one eye, and his condition prevents him from working or supporting his family, including his young son.

Teddy urgently needs brain surgery to remove the tumor, which will help manage this unbearable pain and give him a fighting chance to regain a normal life. Unfortunately, the costs of surgery, post-surgical care, daily bills, and caring for his son are far beyond what we can cover alone.
