WAGS Pet Adoption is dedicated to enhancing animal welfare through sheltering, adoption, education, spay/neuter, and community outreach in the cities of Westminster, Stanton, and Seal Beach, California. Our mission is to provide exceptional care, advocacy, and shelter for stray animals while implementing effective, responsible programs. We are committed to working with our local community with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of animals that enter our shelter.
Each year, WAGS receives approximately 2,000 kittens, the majority arriving as strays, unmothered units during the peak months of July to October. We’re requesting funds to directly help in the cost of care and the surgical and medical procedures needed to keep kittens on the adoptable pathway. These kittens require vaccines, flea meds, medication, spay and neuter monitoring, medical care, and housing care until the appropriate age to be adopted out. Thankfully, we do have fosters that help us with these 2,000 kittens, but each of those kittens has to have medical veterinary care and be on property for a period of time before they can enter the adoption pathway. The cost of comprehensive care is substantial, as we know veterinary care, the purchase of medications, vaccines, and the work of a veterinarian has gone up due to COVID. This $25,000 would help to cover some of the cost as we have increased from two surgical days of spay/neuter to three and possibly four in the next two months in order to help move cats through the adoption pathway quickly and safely, with the goal of getting them into your home. Thank you in advance for anything that you can do to assist us with our goal. Any amount helps.
