Help Sirius Fight Cancer *Time Sensitive*
Update: We’ve been referred to OSU for lymph node mapping which is time sensitive now since it needs to be done before his wound fully heals. Unfortunately, we weren’t made aware of this earlier.
When speaking with OSU to get an idea of costs, we learned that just the initial exam is $270. The mapping itself, which may involve additional X-rays, ultrasounds, or even a CT scan, was estimated at $1,500–$3,000. That doesn’t include the possibility of surgery if they do find an infected lymph node.
We’re working hard to understand whether this step could truly make a difference, and it seems the answer is yes. If an infected lymph node is found and removed, there’s still a chance it could be curative just like the previous surgery. Because of this, I will be raising our fundraising goal. Please don’t feel obligated to donate more, your generosity has already made a huge difference...
The original surgery went amazingly well. The tumor was successfully removed with clean margins (meaning no cancer was left behind at the site!) The only unexpected challenge is learning that, despite those great results, there’s still a chance the cancer could be present elsewhere.
Hi, my name is Rylee and I'm fundraising for my 4 year old German Shepherd, Sirius. On August 23rd, Sirius was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor (A type of potentially aggressive cancer) He is scheduled for surgery on September 2nd, and once the tumor is removed and biopsied, we'll finally know the full extent of his condition and what the next steps will be.
This has been heartbreaking news, but Sirius is still so full of energy...
The good news is that because of his age, he has a strong chance of recovery, but only if we act now.
Without surgery, his chances of survival can be very low, so it's urgent that we do everything possible for him right away.
Unfortunately, his medical's are already over $1,000 and with surgery, testing, and potential treatments ahead including chemo, we're expecting them to reach up to several thousands of dollars. Vet bills pile up so quickly, and the reality is that his care is time sensitive waiting simply isn't an option.
I never imagined I'd be in the position of asking for help, and it's not easy to reach out like this. But every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Sirius's care and give him the best chance to keep living the happy, love-filled life he deserves. Even if you can't contribute, sharing his story means so much.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting Sirius on his journey to healing.
