My name is Gillian, and I'm writing because this means the world to me. I've always been fascinated by sharks as a kid. While other people were afraid of them, I saw something else: power, beauty, and a misunderstood animal that the world once treated like a monster. Now I want to fight for them.

Sharks are amazing. Sharks keep the health and balance of the ocean intact; they're nature's clean-up crew, essentially, keeping the ecosystems in balance. If they weren't around, all of a sudden everything in the ocean just falls apart. The truth, unfortunately… sharks are dying. Millions are killed each year, either simply for their fins or caught accidentally in fishing nets. There are some already teetering on the edge of extinction, like the zebra shark. And that breaks my heart.

I couldn't just sit back and do nothing. That's why I started this GoFundMe to raise money to save sharks before it's too late. Your donation will pay for real work saving sharks like conservation groups that protect their habitats, rescue sharks in need of medical care, and educate people about the truth about how crucial they are.
