THANK YOU ALL!!!
Ruger will be going in next Tuesday for his amputation.
we are extremely great-full for the generosity we have received.
Life has been ruff for the Shuman Family the past year.
Jason got sick last July. After multiple ER trips, ambulance rides, a stay in the ICU, surgery, and a cumulative 14 days in the hospital, he was able to come home. Then he had to complete home IV antibiotics for 6 weeks before returning to his normal day-to-day activities.
Everything was going great until February. Hunter was out enjoying the snow when he ended up colliding with a stop sign while sledding and breaking his femur. This resulted in an ambulance ride, 2 nights in the hospital, and surgery, followed by multiple trips to Spokane for doctors' appointments, and mom having to take time off work to take Hunter to and from school while he had very limited mobility.
Thankfully, both Jason and Hunter have made full recoveries. We were hoping the worst was behind us.
Then the Shuman Family was hit with another hard blow. Ruger, the family dog, developed a big lump on his back leg. After two rounds of x-rays and a biopsy (doing antibiotics and anti-inflammatories while waiting for results just in case), we learned it is cancer and is causing the bone next to the lump to die. The best course of action to save Ruger is to amputate the leg. We have been working with Dr. Williams at Liberty Lake Veterinary Center.
This is where we could use your assistance. With still paying the medical bills for both Jason and Hunter, money is tight. We want to give Ruger the best opportunity to thrive for the remaining years he has. Ruger, being a Belgian Malinois, should have another 5+ years as he is in great health otherwise. Anything that is received will go towards medical bills, be it for Ruger or to assist with paying Jason and Hunter's remaining balances.
Thank you,
The Shuman Family
