If you are reading this, you probably know Robert Newby. If you don’t… you should. He moved to Lancaster about ten years ago from Maryland to be with his parents, Pat and Tom, as well as the beloved family dogs.
He has been a staple in the restaurant industry for many years all around Downtown Lancaster; Alley Kat (now the Coffin Bar), 551 West, Tellus360, and for the last eight years at Shogun, to name a few.
Newby has spent the last few years focusing on helping his parents, friends, and colleagues. Whether you need someone to talk to, borrow a down payment for a car, or a sushi fix, Newby’s been there. He has a rough exterior at times and tells you how it is, but he has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever known.
This last year has been particularly difficult with his health. As of December 1st, he was admitted to Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Lehigh Valley has a very good transplant center. Everything is an out-of-pocket expense. This is where I’m asking for your help…
Newby’s current medical bill is over $300,000 It’s coming into question if he can even get a transplant because of not having insurance. He is trying to fix this issue, but let’s face it, health care practices are awful and he’s sick.
Newby is a very private person and a tad stubborn. He would never ask for help and probably, definitely won’t be happy that I shared his story in such a public way.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help raise the money for Newby to get the transplant he needs to have a second chance at life.
I don’t want to lose my friend. Please help if you can. Donate whatever you can; no amount is too little. If you can’t donate money, then share this and tell a friend. Thank you.
