- My name is Carrie. My dog, Peanut, fell ill a month ago. After one vet visit and one hospital visit, and close to $1,500 later, we learned my dog has to have an ER cystotomy surgery within 30 days or she will get worse and suffer. I'm homeless, living in the Salvation Army low-barrier shelter where I have lived since February 2026. What funds the local resources had left and my peers, we barely got the money to obtain her diagnosis. She has so much life left; you wouldn't know she was sick till you take her to the restroom, where she is pissing thick blood and in so much pain that it sends her into tremors and vomiting. In her case, she has no appetite due to her pain. She is incontinent and doesn't make it out of the building to the dog area to do her business. Please donate to help save Peanut. She is and never was just a service animal to myself, but she provided services for many of my peers in the homeless community. We are well known and could be seen anytime at the river fishing, running, and enjoying life together. I can't watch her suffer nor put a dog down who has so much to give still. But raising $4,000+ for surgery in less than 30 days is overwhelming, but I can't not try.
