Donate to Save Our Mother's Beautiful Heart

This is our beautiful mother, she’s 51 years young. To know her is to love her. She truly is so outgoing and entertaining; literally changing the lives of so many people! She is currently facing battles we hadn’t prepared ourselves for yet because she is so young. She needs an open heart bypass surgery, while also battling two other very strong opponents, diabetes and kidney failure. With no Medicare coverage until this summer, we understand summer is two months away, but with only 10% of her heart fully functioning, those two months are very scary, extremely vital, and seem too far away.

Having worked her entire life, taking in and fostering over 15 kids, 100% volunteered from her heart (not at all being paid by the state), she has pushed her body to its limits almost. In 2021, she suffered a major heart attack and two strokes. The doctors were very surprised she survived them due to her battle with diabetes alone, and not only did she “recover” in a few months' time, but she made herself go back to work as if she had not just gotten stents put into her heart, but nevertheless still working for another additional three years. She did not give up or lose hope, but last year in April unexpectedly, she suffered yet another heart attack on her grandson's 7th birthday, traumatizing us all. All while continuing to still have mini-strokes, this one sat her down. She had to wear a life vest for several months afterward due to poor pumping functioning of her heart. She then upgraded to a heart monitor for a few weeks afterward. It has been a hassle to get her the insurance she needs due to her financial situation after not being able to work. She still has 3 of her grandchildren in her care that she has been raising for the last 12 years, and she is all they have. She is mostly all that a lot of us have. She is fighting so hard to stay afloat and get back to her “normal.”

She was due to have a third stent surgery on March 28th to help breathe better and open up her chest more for comfort and better living. But when her cardiologist went in, she had too much blockage for stents to give her any type of real chance at living again. It was recommended that an experienced cardiologist from Houston do an open heart bypass surgery. Despite her conditions and it being a little risky due to her preexisting conditions, he said her youth was the number one thing saving her and approved her to have this surgery. The type of insurance she has does not cover this surgery at all. But, the hospital agreed to cover all medical expenses. But, that does not include the cost of the surgeon. She has to come up with $5,000 of her own money to get the surgery and everything else is covered. This surgery is vital for her to have some shred of a life again, as she will not live much longer on just 10% of her heart. We have exhausted many of our savings alone in this last year helping her through since she has been out of work. She has helped many people and mostly strangers. All we’re asking is a little help back in her time of need. She has a very beautiful heart and would literally give her last to anyone in need. Without her, we would all be nothing. She is the glue to this family and a home still to many of the kids she has raised throughout her years. ANYTHING helps, even if it is a quick prayer. We are grateful and appreciate anything that can be donated.
Thank you.
