This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write, but we’re out of time and out of options. By the end of this month, we have to come up with $2,515 for rent, plus $469.50 for our truck payment and $200 for our license plates — a total of $3,184.50 — or we’ll lose everything we’ve worked so hard to hold onto. There are no more extensions, no more delays. The eviction process will begin if we can’t pay in full.

We’ve fought so hard to stay caught up after a summer that completely wrecked us. Our truck broke down, my husband missed work, and the bills kept piling higher. Even now, he’s back to work and doing everything he can — but it’s just not enough to cover both the current bills and the debt left behind.

Last Friday, we paid $500 toward the balance, hoping it would help us catch a breath. Instead, a late fee was added, and it feels like we’re drowning all over again. Every paycheck since August has gone straight to survival — rent, food, gas, keeping the lights on — and still we’re falling short.

My husband’s birthday is this Thursday, but instead of celebrating, we’re trying to figure out how to keep a roof over our heads and a vehicle on the road so he can keep working. The stress, the fear, the constant uncertainty — it’s taken everything out of us. But we’re still fighting. We’re still hoping someone out there might help us make it through this last hurdle.
