Hello everyone,
Many of you may remember the Feliki Kittens that we found outside and fostered in 2020. They were our pandemic kittens and they really were a bright light in such a dark time.
So many of my IG community came to fall in love with these precious kittens, as I did too!

Norman and Salem were adopted together by the most lovely couple in San Diego. They drove all the way up to the San Fernando Valley to adopt them without even meeting them first. My heart was so happy that they stayed together and that they were going to such a lovely home.

However, recently Norman's health suddenly and quickly declined. Norman's Mom, Carolyn, reached out to me with the devastating news that their vet thought Norman could possibly be diabetic. He was lethargic and had lost two pounds very quickly. He started vomiting and could barely walk, something was seriously wrong.

Carolyn and Steven rushed Norman to the Emergency Pet hospital, where Norman received life saving treatment. He was hospitalized for many days until he was stable. Even though Norman is only 4 years old, he was diagnosed with Diabetes and was already in a diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which would have lead to death if Carolyn and Steven had not taken immediate action.

Many of us consider our pets our family and no-one should have to navigate this journey alone. Financially this has been so devastating to a couple that I know and love and I want to help them in any way I can. By supporting this gofund me, you will be helping alleviate some of the financial burden and stress of Norman's recent hospital visit, which cost them over $10k.
By donating to Carolyn and Steven, this will help them focus on getting Norman back on his feet, as his diagnosis requires a lot of change in their lives. Norman now requires insulin monitoring, special diet, and injections after meals.

If we can help this amazing couple it would mean the world to me. They love Norman and Salem so much and have been hands down one of the best adopters we have ever had.

Carolyn puts it into her own words here:

“It’s been such an emotional rollercoaster these past couple of weeks. When we found out Norman was diabetic, we were shocked and trying to grasp how to adjust to giving him insulin twice a day.

Before we could even start him on the insulin, Norman suddenly took a turn for the worst. When he started throwing up, not eating, and being lethargic, I hurried him to the emergency. I’m glad I did because it could have been much worse for him. We found out that he was in a diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) state while also struggling with pancreatitis.

Norman was hospitalized immediately on October 30. I’m sure many of you already know this but emergency pet care and hospitalization is extremely expensive. When I was presented with the estimate, my stomach dropped. I was unsure what to do at first, but then realized that Norman is only 4 years old and could possibly live a longer life if I could just get him the medical help he so needed. He means the world to us and I couldn’t just give up on him.

Norman was finally discharged the evening of November 3. He was in the hospital for 4 nights/5 days and he came home with lots of medications, home care, and a large medical bill. We’re extremely happy to have him home and we’re also feeling so overwhelmed (emotionally and financially). There are 4 different medications along with his insulin that we need to administer. Not to mention monitoring his blood sugar, hydration, food intake, and weight.

This will be a long journey for us and I know the vet costs will not stop here. For those who have asked and for those who would love to help with some of the expenses for Norman’s recovery… we greatly appreciate it. Anything helps to continue giving Norman the care he needs and to help him recover. Please continue with all your thoughts, prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.”
