If you’ve ever faced a moment when life felt heavier than you could carry, you’ll understand why I’m creating this GoFundMe for my friend Monique.
Monique is one of the most resilient and caring people I know, someone who has spent her life helping others even while facing immense personal challenges. Today, she needs our help.
After facing serious health challenges and a long stretch of unemployment, Monique is now at risk of losing her longtime home. She’s working with a reputable nonprofit to find a path forward but urgently needs help to catch up on her mortgage and cover essential expenses while she searches for stable remote work.
It takes tremendous courage to open up about personal hardship, and Monique has chosen to share her story in the hope that it might lead to stability and a fresh start.
A lot of people are struggling right now, and it’s in times like these that community matters most. When we come together to lift one another up, even small acts of generosity can change the course of someone’s life.
If you’ve ever been helped when you needed it most, or wanted to make a real difference for someone fighting to hold on to hope, please consider donating or sharing Monique’s story. Together, we can help her keep her home and rebuild her life.
Much love,
Shar

Hello, my name is Monique, and I’m reaching out for help during one of the most challenging times of my life.
After being out of work for 18 months, I was finally hired in December 2024. I felt hopeful for the first time in a long while. But due to budget cuts and an upcoming merger, my contract was not renewed this past June. Since then, I’ve been struggling to stay afloat while managing serious health challenges.
Soon after returning to work, my chronic migraines returned with intense, frequent pain. I was then diagnosed with panic disorder, which worsened my agoraphobia. I also live with severe depression and asthma. My asthma has been life-threatening in the past — in 2011, I suffered a pulmonary arrest during a severe asthma attack. While I’ve worked hard to manage it since then, stress and instability make it harder to control. More recently, I’ve experienced fainting spells that have caused head injuries, adding even more uncertainty to my situation.
Because of my health, I can only work remotely, and I’m actively searching for a sustainable position that will allow me to support myself again. I also need to keep my car, which is essential for medical appointments and in case I’m offered a hybrid role requiring occasional commuting.
I live alone with my 16-year-old cat, Pansy, who has been my loyal companion through everything. She’s elderly now and needs regular veterinary care, which I’m also struggling to afford.
The most urgent issue is my home. I’ve fallen $22,000 behind on my mortgage, and if I can’t catch up, my home is scheduled to be sold on November 7. This isn’t just any home — it’s the condo my mother purchased in 1993, where I’ve lived since 2003. It holds her memory and has been my anchor through every stage of my life. Losing it would feel like losing her all over again.
I’m working with Navicore Solutions, a nationally recognized nonprofit credit counseling firm, to manage my debt responsibly. The funds I’m requesting will go directly toward the agreements Navicore has set up to keep my home and bring my finances back on track.
I’m hoping to raise $30,000 to help cover:
- $22,000 in back mortgage payments to prevent the sale of my home on November 7
- Medical bills and medications for migraines, panic disorder, depression, asthma, and fainting-related injuries
- Basic living expenses and care for Pansy while I search for stable remote work
- Essential car payments and maintenance for job and medical access
Every donation, no matter the size, could make the difference between keeping my home and losing everything. Even sharing this campaign would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness or support you can offer. I’m doing my best to stay hopeful and rebuild my life, one day at a time.
