My beloved Mochi has been hospitalized after a rapid onset mystery illness. He was unable to move, walk or even stand.
After 2 vets trips, a night in the hospital & $12k (thus far) they have diagnosed him w/Lepto (which he is vaccinated for annually).
Mochi is doing better, improving & resting comfortably. He is being treating w/antibiotics, however this horrible disease has been extremely hard on his kidneys and he must remain in the hospital for several days.
I am reluctant & embarrassed to ask for help, but I am hoping to raise whatever I can to help fund the next few days he needs to remain hospitalized.
“Leptospirosis in dogs is a serious bacterial disease that can cause severe illness and organ damage, particularly to the kidneys and liver. It is caused by a bacteria called leptospirosis and is spread through the urine of infected animals. Symptoms can range from mild to severe, and early treatment is crucial to prevent lasting damage. Transmission: is contact with urine of infected animals (e.g., in water sources, soil.)”
