My brother-in-law Michael beat cancer earlier this year, but unfortunately it has returned with a vengeance and he is battling multiple rapidly growing tumors. Michael will need difficult life-saving surgery very soon. While he has health insurance, they are dragging their feet and have not approved his claim yet, which means that he will have to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars if he has any chance of surviving. Hopefully insurance will come through, but we don't really have the luxury of waiting. Michael's first appointments at Dana-Farber are scheduled for next week and as of now he does not have the funds to pay for them.

Michael was laid off from a job he'd had for three years just before his first diagnosis, and because he had to have regular chemo appointments he hadn't been able to get back on his feet before this recurrence. Michael is a really good person who has not had a lot of good breaks recently, and his whole family is doing their best to support him throughout this difficult time. Anything that you are able to contribute would be appreciated beyond words and will go towards medical costs, travel to and from Boston, and potentially lodging if a longer stay for a family member is needed.
