Donate to Save Marva Sambola's Vision

Hi, I’m Barbara Truitt, I’m raising money for Marva Sambola. She bakes bread and sells it, that’s how I met her 12 years ago. She makes the bread the old fashioned way on an open fire in a pot, they’re called Johnny cakes, very delicious coconut bread. It tastes smokey cause of the fire. So good!

She has cataracts and is losing her sight, she went to the doctor to get them fixed but when he tried to dilate her eyes they wouldn’t dilate because they are on the inside of her eye and it isn’t covered by universal health care. I’ve added a little extra for travel costs and time off work. I really want to be able to help her. It breaks my heart to think that she might go blind from something that can be remedied with surgery.
