Two days ago our last puppy (Louie) started throwing up, stopped eating, and quickly took a turn for the worst. Immediately Saturday morning we took him to Mission Vet, where the labs and x-rays commenced. He was tested for parvo, showing negative. X-rays showed no obstruction. Labs showed severe dehydration, high WBC, low protein and potassium, etc. With everything, they showed he does have a lot of inflammation in the GI tract.

The afternoon came and Louie took a fast down turn, showing signs of shock, unable to regulate his temperature and unable to obtain a Blood Pressure. At this point they let us know that he needed to be hospitalized if he wanted any chance at surviving. Due to strict protocols at Mission Vet, they refused to do CPR for Louie if that were needed because he may have a contagious infection. This was a deal killer for us, as Louie is family and we will do whatever is necessary to keep him with us.

$1200 later, we removed him from Mission Vet and now have him at VEG emergency hospital and have him receiving the best care and treatment but he is still very critical. This evening he had to receive a platelet transfusion to help with his critically low albumin levels. At this moment, our new vet bill is exceeding $9,000.

Louie started eating small amounts of chicken this afternoon and is showing small improvements, but is still very critical and struggling with his albumin levels. We are not sure what the next few days will entail, but we appreciate all of the prayers and support thus far.
